Italians

Please note this review was posted about 3 weeks after visiting, so finer details have been lost to my poor memory.

We returned to Italians in Morley based on my cravings for pasta. Repeat readers will know I'm not a big fan of overly creamy pasta, but this time I was quite pleased with my meal. We have visited Italians before after Rebecca found it as a gluten-free pasta place (catering to gluten-free needs is critical to where we eat). Last time I was overwhelmed with white sauce and totally bored with my gnocchi, but this time I went for my other favorite, ravioli.

My ravioli was very enjoyable, stuffed with spinach and fetta which was sadly masked by the thin alfredo sauce. I could tell though the pasta was extremely fresh and soft, but I was very surprised that the strong spinach was hidden by the alfredo. I particularly liked the salty lift of the bacon, adding a new texture and dimension to the dish. The mushrooms were wonderfully strong but too sparsely distributed, becoming sudden surprises instead of an even flavor. Sadly, I was extremely hungry and I do feel the serving size was a bit small. I remember Rebecca looking at my dish, concerned and asking me whether it was enough.

I compensated by ordering one of my favorite desserts: sticky date pudding. It's one of my go-to desserts, always warm on the heart and a great end to a meal. I did find the sticky date unremarkable aside from the pleasantly strong date taste which is sadly missing from most which focus too much on the caramel sauce. Some ice cream with it would have been good.

I was fairly pleased overall, three stars. The ravioli serve could have been 50% more and would have made me much happier.
